An actress and singer, Selena Gomez began her career as a child star. Born in 1992 in New York City, Gomez grew up in Texas and got her first break as a cast member on the kids TV show Barney and Friends. From there she worked in several Disney Channel productions including The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, Hannah Montana, and The Wizards of Waverly Place. She also appeared in the 2003 film Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. An avid singer, Gomez has also recorded songs for several of her Disney projects, including the soundtracks to Wizards of Waverly Place and the 2008 musical Another Cinderella Story. In 2009, going under the band name Selena Gomez & the Scene, she released her first full-length studio pop album, Kiss & Tell, featuring the lead-off single "Falling Down." Selena Gomez & the Scene's sophomore effort, A Year Without Rain, is set for release in September of 2010.
